Pool area cleanup planned March 31

March 29, 2012 by Randy Reddick Leave a Comment

June 2011 pool part
Haversham Pool Party

Blessed by unseasonably warm weather and positive readings from pecan trees and mesquite, neighbors have already been thinking about pool parties. The Haversham Board of Directors Thursday set 10 a.m. Saturday, March 31, as the time to start the process for reopening the community pool.

Saturday’s agenda calls for cleanup around the pool area, repair of the pool pumps and filters and routine pre-opening maintenance and preparations. When pumps and filters are repaired and working, then pool vacuuming and new season chemical loading will begin. After chlorine and pH levels stabilize in satisfactory ranges, the pool can be declared fit for human occupation. That is expected to take 1-2 weeks after the pumps and filters are restored.

Facilities update for 2011

May 27, 2011 by brook roberts Leave a Comment

Members, I just wanted to update everyone on the pool situation today. I know it’s getting hot and we all want to jump in. From what I’ve been made aware, the pH and chlorine levels in the pool have not been balanced yet and we are awaiting “jump-in” approval from the Reddick household.

Joe Elmore replaces fitting
Joe Elmore replaces fitting on pool vacuum system

Here are a few other notes I want to update you on:

  1. Please find two attachments on this email. One of them has to do with how to go about reserving the Party House (Gary Blaiss will send out the official rules, but this attachment is a summary), and the other is a tentative cleaning schedule assigned to households (more on that in a moment).
  2. The Officers have told our pool keeper from the majority of last summer that his services will not be required at this point this summer. This is partly due to financial costs and partly because it has been difficult to schedule him to get the pool ready this week for us because phone calls have not been returned.
  3. Because of this, I have created a tentative cleaning schedule for families to consider. I chose the households based on who I anticipate seeing at the pool this summer based upon who has used it in the past and who has paid their dues. This schedule is not mandatory, but we would like to highly encourage your participation in taking care of our assets and community together. I realize I did not check with you to see when you are available, so if the date assigned to you is not convenient, please consider trading with someone else. What I’m asking is that you take a trip on the recommended day to the pool to clean-up after anyone that may have had to leave the area suddenly and did not clean-up after themselves. This would include skimming and vacuuming the pool (more on that in a moment).
  4. Regarding the mowing in the common area, we have asked Danny to water the lawn only two times each week and mow one time every three weeks in order to reduce costs. Because of that, if you are able, from time-to-time, and don’t mind, please take your mower through part of your section of the common area to assist in keeping our grounds looking nice.
  5. At our annual meeting, a request was made to purchase and install some steps in the shallow end. Several families have agreed to “chip in some money” to help offset that cost. If you are able, please make your contribution to Gary Blaiss. Those steps will be purchased and installed soon.
  6. The officers have also authorized the purchase of a robotic pool cleaner that can be used overnight to assist in vacuuming and skimming. Until that time, we will all pitch-in and help manually.
  7. This Saturday, several homeowners will be gathering to replace some fencing around the pool area at 2pm. If you can assist, even if you are not good with tools or hammers, there is additional help that can be completed, such as replacing lightbulbs, dusting fans, cleaning pool chairs, etc. Would love to see you out there for some help. Additionally, at 3pm, we will have a short session on how to work the equipment and measure the chlorine and pH levels. If you are on the calendar list, please try your best to attend.
  8. And, at our annual meeting, suggestions were made for several committees to be composed (Social, Party House, Maintenance, etc.). I am currently compiling those committee chairs and recommendations. If there is a particular committee you would like to serve or have input on, please let me know. I hope to have those out this weekend.
  9. Finally, on Friday, June 3rd at 3pm, our pool inspector will make a visit and also do some training on pool maintenance and safety. Please make plans to attend if you are able.

Thank you all for your help in making Haversham a great place for friends and families to live!

Necklace lost at pool…please return

July 2, 2010 by Penny Bradford Leave a Comment

Gena Parker, Betty Bradford’s grand daughter lost a clear crystal (1 1/2 – 2 inches) on a silver chain. It was left at the pool on Wednesday and she would really appreciate it returned. It was extremely sentimental to her. Gena’s number is 806-441-7420 and Penny’s is 806-441-8900. Please call if you found it! Thanks, Penny Bradford & Gena Parker

New pool cover?

September 27, 2009 by Randy Reddick Leave a Comment

Haversham Neighbors:

It’s time to close the pool, and the Haversham board has approved a proposal to purchase a cover that ties down –one like we used to have several years ago. Joe Elmore has agreed to do what needs to be done for sinking tie-bolts into the patio concrete.

The cost of the cover is about $1,200. Gary Blaiss says we have the funds to cover the cost.

The rationale for this expense is that for the last several years, the cover system we have been using simply does not work. West Texas winds simple wreak havoc with our cover. Bringing the pool back up again in May has required much time, work, and expense because the pool has been a mess.

An e-mail was sent to the members list Saturday, Sept. 26, asking for your vote. If you have not yet voted, please reply to that e-mail.

Umbrella destroyed

June 16, 2009 by Nancy Reddick Leave a Comment

Haversham neighbors, we suffered our first umbrella casualty over the weekend. One of us left the umbrella up Sunday, and the next storm through town did the rest. Walmart was very gracious about the whole thing and replaced the umbrella. That will not always be the case.

Please, if you leave the pool area and an umbrella is still up, lower it. It will stand a much better chance of surviving some of our West Texas breezes.

Annual meeting scheduled

May 14, 2009 by Marquel 3 Comments

OOPS!  It seems we forgot a few necesities in the potluck assinments.  Thanks Randy for reminding us!  So, here is the new and improved potluck list.

* Flint side: breads/drinks/ice
* 42nd side: salads/cutlery
* Gary side: deserts/napkins/plates
* 40th side: vegetables/side dishes/cups

It is a good idea to ask your neighbors what they intend to bring, just to make sure we get everything covered.  Remember, there are 23 households, so we’ll need quite a few napkins, cutlery, etc.  This will also be posted to the web site, so if you get a chance, you may wish to leave a comment on what you intend to bring.  That way, neighbors can look and see what holes might need filling.
Oh! We also need a few table clothes, so if you have one or two we could use, we’d appreciate it!
We hope everyone will be able to make it. There are important business matters, but even more important, it is a great opportunity to meet & welcome our new neighbors who have moved in since our get-together last year.

Steve & Marquel White

**********
We have scheduled the annual meeting for May 30th at 12 noon.  We’ll have a potluck lunch to follow the meeting.  Haversham will provide the meat and we’ll split the remaining as follows:
Flint side: breads
42nd side: salads
Gary side: deserts
40th side: vegetables/side dishes
For new members:  dividing up what to bring helps make sure we don’t end up with too much of one thing and none of another.  We try to rotate it.

Important business for this meeting:  We will elect offiicers and must vote on the by-laws for the incorporation, so please make plans to attend.  We apologize; a death in the family delayed scheduling the meeting.

Web site moved

December 1, 2008 by Randy Reddick Leave a Comment

Dear Haversham Neighbors:

We have moved the Haversham Club Web site to a new server, and we are in the process of moving data files, scripts and all that geeky stuff into our new home. Our hope is to have a much simpler, smarter Web site for all when we are done.

I simply ask for your patience while we do the moving.

Thanks
